Gillian became an owner, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Todobebe.com in 2000, and in 2001 joined full time as its CEO to lead the development of Todobebé, Inc into the first integrated media company serving Hispanic families globally via properties in Television, Digital, Radio, Events, Licensing, Research, Mobile, etc.
In 2010 and 2011 she was nominated as one of top CEO’s of Hispanic Media companies (HispanicAd / AHAA).
Previously Gillian was the co-Founder & CEO of Wallaware, Inc, a mobile software infrastructure company based in Ireland and Boston. During her tenure, Wallaware was ranked as a top-4 emerging technology company in Europe by Tornado Insider (‘00), as one of the top-10 emerging wireless companies by Wireless Internet Daily (‘01), and was selected by IBM as its first Blue Light case study supporting emerging wireless infrastructure companies (‘01).
Previously she was a Director of Spydre Labs, an investment vehicle majority owned by WPP for investing in emerging companies in Software, Digital & Marketing in Latin America. Prior to that, she was a Strategist with AppNet, Inc, where her role was to advise companies on how to leverage their media, content, and marketing assets to compete in the future – whether to build or buy, joint venture or partner, with what business plan, against what projected competition. In this capacity, she was on the advisory team in 1998 to The Cisneros Television Group and AOL Latin America, Cablevision/Rainbow Media, and Valassis, Inc (VCI), among others.
She has been invited to speak at conferences and Universities in the U.S., Europe and Latin America on branded entertainment and family media, how to build segmented and integrated media companies, Private Equity investing, and the future of the wireless and technology industries worldwide.
She was also an equity analyst at JPMorgan, on the team that earned the #1 ranking from both Latin Trade and Institutional Investor for emerging wireless companies and telecommunications in Latin America in 1996 and 1997. There she covered public offerings of CANTV, Iusacell, Telefonica del Peru and Bell Canada International, and wrote extensively on the future of wireless and telecom in Mexico, and South America. Prior to that she worked in the J P Morgan Global Credit group where she was responsible for evaluating and recommending debt ratings and credit requirements for mass market retailers in the U.S. such as Kmart, Target, Woolworth, and J C Penny, during a transition time in the retail industry characterized by restructurings and bankruptcies.
She has served on the Board of Advisors to the Pediatric Brain Injury (PBI) Program, University of Miami School of Medicine | The Miami Project. PBI is a leading global center of excellence for the rehabilitation of children with severe spinal chord and brain injuries.
She is also the former president of the International Board of UNIACC, a University in Santiago, Chile with the #1 Film and Television program in the country.
She also served from 2001 to 2008 on the Boards of Directors of Medcenter Solutions, the leading CRM Pharmaceutical marketing and continuing Medical Education Company serving Latin America, the UK, Spain, and Australia (www.medcenter.com and www.plemed.org), partnered with the Medical Associations in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
She completed her Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate for International Relations with a specialty in Development Economics in 3 years from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Prior to University, she worked at JPL/NASA doing programming (IDL) and industry research on earth observing satellites. She speaks English, Spanish, and French.
